The Andean Crossing is an experience that invites you to get to know a historical journey that began in 1913, when a group of tourists crossed the Andes Mountains for the first time, joining Argentina and Chile. Today, this tour continues to be an unmissable adventure for those who wish to explore Patagonia and enjoy the connection between these two neighboring nations.
The tour starts with the pick-up at the meeting point in San Carlos de Bariloche, from where we head to Puerto Pañuelo, in the Llao Llao Llao Peninsula. From there, we embark to sail for about an hour along the main arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi. During the trip, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Centinela Islet, where the remains of Perito Francisco P. Moreno, considered the father of Argentina's National Parks, rest, and the majestic Cascada Blanca (White Waterfall), surrounded by lush native vegetation.
Upon arrival at Puerto Blest, you will have the opportunity to explore Blest Bay and the Frias River, whose intense green colors come from the Cerro Tronador glacier, which feeds these waters. At this point, you can stop at the recently renovated Puerto Blest Hotel, where you can enjoy various trekking options, including a visit to the Cascada de los Cántaros waterfall, or simply relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
The tour continues with a bus ride, going into the forest for approximately 15 minutes (3 km), bordering the Frías River, until we reach Puerto Alegre. From there, we will sail for 25 minutes on Lake Frias to Puerto Frias. After completing the migration formalities, we board a 4×4 vehicle specially adapted to travel through the area, which will take us through the impressive landscapes of the Valdivian rainforest until we reach Peulla, an ecological village located in the heart of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.
In Peulla, surrounded by ancient forests, waterfalls and streams, you can enjoy some time for lunch and explore the surroundings. Later, we will navigate the Todos los Santos Lake in the direction of Petrohue. Depending on weather conditions and the season, you can visit the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park and the Petrohue Falls, where you can admire the force of the water falling over the rock formations. The tour ends bordering Lake Llanquihue until reaching the city of Puerto Varas, where this impressive journey that connects two countries, united by their history, their nature and their incomparable beauty, culminates.
