We begin our exciting excursion by the High Mountain Road from MendozaWe will pick up participants at their hotels between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. Our sightseeing trip begins along the famous National Route N°7.The first stop, after going through the tunnel of the town of Cacheuta, takes us to the impressive Potrerillos dam located on the Andes mountain rangeA place of unforgettable scenic beauty, where you will have the opportunity to capture the best pictures with the High Peaks background.
We continue our way upstream entering the mountain village of Uspallata. This historic place was the scene of the Huarpe indigenous occupation in pre-Hispanic times and marks the transition between the foothills and the frontal cordillera. We will stop for breakfast in Uspallata and then continue our journey through a mountainous landscape that includes the charming villages of Picheuta, Polvaredas and Punta de Vacas, as well as the old ski resort, Los Penitentes.
Continuing our group tourIn the morning, we find the iconic Puente del Inca, a natural monument of astonishing geological beauty, recognized as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Kilometers ahead, you will find the viewpoint of the Mount AconcaguaThe highest mountain in America after the Himalayas.
The High Mountain tour culminates at the border with Chile, Las Cuevas, a charming village built in a distinctive European style. Here we enjoy a delicious Mendocino lunch in a typical mountain restaurant.
Important Notice! The snowy season has started in the High Mountain area, which may affect our route. There is a possibility that we may not be able to complete the entire itinerary or that access to certain high altitude areas may be restricted. The tour will still take place. If we are unable to reach Las Cuevas, the duration of the tour will depend on the regulations of Vialidad and/or Gendarmería that control access to the area. In case access to Las Cuevas is not possible, we will have lunch at a restaurant in Uspallata.
