Discover the history and beauty of the Uco Valley in Mendoza as you hike the trails of the Cajón de los Arenales, one of the most visited routes in the Portillo Range. This high altitude trek takes you through breathtaking landscapes, with the Andes Mountains as a backdrop.

You explore the Manzano - Portillo de Piuquenes Provincial Reserve, a place full of history and culture. Here, General José de San Martín crossed in 1823 during his return from the liberation campaign, and also the naturalist Charles Darwin, years later. El Cajón de Arenales, known for its imposing granite walls that change color with the sun, is one of the most popular destinations for rock climbing in Mendoza.

During the hike, you are surrounded by rocky mountains, valleys, lagoons and rivers, which form an important water reserve for the region. You admire how the landscape envelops you and enjoy the serenity of nature in its purest state.

Additional information

La altitud del trekking es de 3.100 m s.n.m. y el recorrido total es de 9 km, con una duración estimada de entre 4 y 5 horas de caminata.

El nivel de exigencia física es intermedio y el recorrido se realiza por un sendero rocoso con tramos de pendiente y algunos cruces de arroyos, en un entorno de paisaje imponente.

Se recomienda utilizar pantalón de trekking o similar, remera de material sintético (evitar algodón), buzo tipo polar o abrigo intermedio, guantes térmicos livianos, campera rompeviento o impermeable y zapatillas deportivas con buena suela o botas de trekking.

Llevar gorra para el sol, un par de medias extra, protector solar, gafas de sol con protección UV, una mochila de día (15 a 20 litros) y una botella con al menos 2 litros de agua.

Cancellations 7 or more days prior to tour start: Refund of 90% of the tour value (10% administrative fee applies).
Cancellations more than 72 hours before the start of the tour: Refund of 40% of the tour value.
Cancellations within 72 hours before the start of the tour: No refunds.
