We start this exciting excursion from Bariloche, heading south along the picturesque Ruta 40. We pass by Lake Gutierrez and Lake Mascardi, and then take the detour to the road that leads to the imposing Cerro Tronador. This road initially takes us to the Manso Medio River, where we continue our journey passing by Los Moscos and Hess lakes. We cross the bridge over the Roca River until we reach a parking lot, from where we continue on foot to the Mirador de la Cascada Los Alerces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Los Alerces Waterfall, with its 20 meters high, is a natural spectacle that the Manso River creates shortly after leaving Lake Hess. Surrounded by an exuberant forest of coihues and with the presence of ferns and mosses, the waterfall can be contemplated from a wide viewpoint. This sector of the forest is also home to some specimens of larch trees, which give the waterfall its name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We continue our journey to Pampa Linda, where we stop for a refreshing lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After lunch, the tour continues until we reach the end of the road, where we are at the foot of the imposing Cerro Tronador, the highest peak of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. The mountain owes its name to the roar caused by the detachment of the glaciers on its summits.
